Greetings! Sorry to say this but the details provided are insufficient. We need to know the nature of injury, surgery and the post op recovery history. Whether any complications happened post surgery or not. Ideally in an uncomplicated fracture with good surgical correction and postoperative recovery, nailing/plate can be removed between 12-18 months after surgery. Long term complications of retained prosthesis is chronic pain, rarely infection or deformity, MRI procedures won’t be possible if needed in future. Kindly consult with the orthopaedic surgeon who did the procedure as he knows better regarding the proceedings of the surgery and the postoperative recovery. Thank you!
