A chronic cough could happen because of chronic sinusitis, chronic bronchitis and now even swine flu. Nothing to get scared of. In such situations prescribing antibiotics like cefuroxime aexetil, azithromycin or clarithromycin helps a lot, but we need to first establish the cause of the cough rather than treat it first. That is putting the card before the horse. And prescribing antibiotics without seeing the patients is unethical. Take a simple cough syrup, do steam inhalations, do salt water gargles, eat single food and a lot of sprouts.
Next Steps
Preferable get your sinus X Rays, chest X Ray, PA view and a throat swab if required with a simple CBC test. Would suggest to see a physician first and let him decide the right course of action
Health Tips
Put a mask on your face so that you don't infect others. Don't share handkerchiefs with others , avoid shaking hands with others, keep a safe distance in publicly crowded places
