Low platelet count
Slight swelling of the right collar bone. Visited an Ortho, xray report says "medial margin of right clavicle shows sclerosis s/o osteochondritis". Doctor asked for a blood test to be done. Blood test results in normal range, mostly near the mid point in all cases except platelet count. 40k versus 150-450 range expected. Should this be a cause for concern? Have been asked to consult a hematologist. Just wondering if this is a symptom of something serious like cancer etc. Please let me know.
