I am a 29yrs working women in medical field and trying to get pregnant and consulted with gynecologist she advised me tab Thyroxin 25mcg .and my tsh level is normal ..so please tell me it is safe to take for pregnancy and any side effects if its level is normal in our body

Women who have underlying thyroid disorder are more susceptible to becoming hypothyroid during pregnancy. In pregency there is an increased requirement of thyroid hormones becoz of increased rate of metabolism in mother's body...and its transplacental transport..which is essential for development and maturation of different organs of foetus....

the dose of levothyroxine( thyronorm) should be increased by 30% as soon as pregency is confirmed...
