Hairline fracture
I got a hairline fracture on the head of 5th metacarpal bone of my right hand. I want to know whether plaster cast is required for this or it will be healed automatically without plastering. I can take medicines for pain and swelling but not willing to get it plastered as it will be uncomfortable. Please suggest. Thank you.

The main logic behind applying plaster of Paris is to maintain that alignment and avoid bone displacement, which might end up causing improper union of the fractured ends leading to abnormal movements and abnormal appearance of the fractured part....With out proper information its hard to suggest consult nearest orthopedic surgeon they will do the needful.
