I applied for GAMCA medical test and doctor mentioned that I have minimal fibrotic scarring. Can anyone advise me what to do? I never had any symptoms and past history.

Pulmonary fibrosis is a condition that causes your lung tissue to become thickened and scarred. This makes it more difficult for air to pass between the walls of the lungs and into the body. Once the scarring of the lungs occurs, unfortunately there is no way to reverse the process. Disease management is not only preventative, but also helps the person with pulmonary fibrosis enjoy a higher quality of life.
Causes for pulmonary fibrosis:
- Smoking cigarettes
- Viral infections
- Exposure to environmental irritants, such as gases, fumes, pollutants and workplace hazards
- Certain medications
- Genetics
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition in which acid from your stomach backs up into your throat
You may require further investigations such as HRCT, Breathing tests, ABG to name a few to confirm the diagnosis.
You could follow the following lifestyle changes which could help in your situation:
- Breathing exercises through means such as yoga, using a tri-ball spirometery
- Exercise regularly
- Avoid/Stop habits such as smoking
- Avoid pollutants and other harmful substances in the air by using the necessary precautions such as using a mask.
- Have a proper nutritious diet
