I'm using a doctor recommended Expectorant. I wanted to know the excess phlegm produced, how will it be expelled. Assimilated into the walls of the lungs and expelled OR Through my throat. Which means I've to try to spit out from my mouth every time i cough OR Out of the wind pipe and i can swallow in digestion system.

hello there.

the expectorants contain medicines which break down the sputum. they are mucolytic medicines so that the removal is easy. it will come out through throat when you cough and its always recommended to spit it out.
