Cerebral venous thrombosi
Hi doctor, My friend was having a severe headache, did an MRI scan as per advice from doctor, found cvt(blood clot) right side. Blood test showed that vitamin d is 12.8mg/ml, vitamin b12 188.8pg/ml. Can vitamin d deficiency cause blood clot?he is taking clot thinning medicjnes now. What may be the reason of blood clot?

Hello, low vitamin deficiency do not cause cerebral venous thrombosis. Probable causes include Hypercoagulable states like homocystenemia, protein c ,s deficiencies, trauma , intracranial hypotension , some medications like corticosteroid, or extension of thrombus from sinuses. Nephrotic syndrome , etc... Normal range of vitamin d3 is 20-30 ng per ml.
