A month back I had high fever chills could not move as joints had become stiff. I got blood checked no dengue malaria doc told viral infection or chikungunya. After 2-3days fever and after week I could move. But 2nd week onwards joints pain come and go. Is this chikungunya and how long will this last.? Any treatment?

hi sorry to hear about your condition . Yes the symptoms that you have mentioned are consistent with viral fever with the most common cause of viral fever presenting with arthritis is Chikungunya. The symptoms of viral Arthritis can persist for several months together with some patients known to suffer with symptoms of viral Arthritis for 2 years a longer. Doctors are getting better and better at treating viral arthritis with anti-inflammatory medications either NSAIDs or short courses of steroids.  you need to meet a Rheumatologist at the earliest. they will be able to guide you with respect to the proper treatment of your viral arthritis.  hope this helps. you can also ask for the questions on my website www.rheumatologybangalore.com.
