Angioedema
It seems I have angioedema, swelling of lips, sometimes feet, hands etc. Swellings usually start very quickly (in a few minutes sometimes) and go away in fews hours, sometimes last a day. What can I do to suppress the swellings? any tests to know the exact cause?

Hi there...I can understand your concern. Angioedema is usually caused due to some allergy. This allergy could be in the form of food allergy, respiratory tract infection, urinary tract infection, dust or plant allergens, gastritis, decaying tooth, sle. You will require detailed clinical examination and further investigations. So kindly consult a dermatologist or general physician for further evaluation. If you have any difficulty in breathing or swallowing, please visit any casualty centre immediately for chloepheniramine, hydrocortisone, adrenaline injections. It is a medical emergency.

Hello, I went through your query Allergic angioedema, caused by an allergic reaction or anaphylaxis. Drug-induced angioedema, where swelling is due to side-effects of a medication, such as angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. Idiopathicangioedema, where the cause is not clear. Hereditary angioedema, causedby inherited 'faulty' genes. First consult immunologist or MD medicine physician for further workup.
