Itching at the anus mostly at night/early morning for the past 2 weeks. Severe enough to keep me awake at night sometimes. Suspected that it is fungal as I had similar issue around 4 years back. Applied "Candid" cream which has clotrimazole, but it hasn't helped.

Some fungi don't respond to clotrimazole. Try changing the ointment to fluconazole or ketoconazole. Ketoconazole also comes as a soap, so try washing the anal area with it. If it still persists then visit a dermatologist for evaluation.
