I am non diabetic but i was hospitalized for covid and after that it has been 20 days that i have been taken wysolone.....initially i had taken 60mg but now after 20 days my dose is reduced to 5mg and i take it only once in the morning . My fasting blood sugar is fine which is around 75 but my pp blood sugar comes at about 165. Is it because of wysolone ? Can even 5 mg of wysolone raise blood sugar level ? And will they become normal once i stop taking this medicine ? In how much time ?
Yes steroids which is given for covid infection will elevate blood sugars to cause diabetes. it’s called steroid induced diabetes. Even small dose can increase blood sugars. Once steroid is stopped if will take about weeks time to reduce the blood sugars back to normal.
