Hello,
Wisdom tooth (3rd molar) pain can happen due to several reasons like food getting stuck, gum inflammation around the tooth (pericoronitis), or improper eruption.
Important Tips for You:
• Warm saline rinses 2-3 times a day to soothe the gums and reduce swelling.
• Avoid chewing hard, spicy, or sticky foods on that side to prevent irritation.
• Maintain oral hygiene carefully around the area—use a soft toothbrush and gentle flossing if possible.
Regarding medicines:
• Painkillers or antibiotics might give temporary relief, but they won’t treat the actual cause if the tooth is infected or impacted.
• For any medication, I’ll also need to know if you have any known drug allergies, especially to antibiotics or painkillers, to avoid reactions.
• An X-ray is important to check the position of the wisdom tooth and decide whether treatment like cleaning, gum trimming, or extraction is needed.
Next Steps
1. Get an X-ray done.
2. Visit your dentist for a proper clinical check-up.
3. Based on the report, we can plan the right treatment—whether it’s cleaning the area, trimming the gum flap, or removal of the tooth if needed.
