If the roots of wisdom tooth in closed proximity to the underlying nerve, then numbness can happen. Normally this is temporary.

The roots of your wisdom tooth must have been close to the underlying nerve. The numbness is because of that. How long the numbness will persist depends upon the extent of damage to the nerve. The sensation may return in a few weeks time or maybe not. Kindly visit an oral and maxillofacial surgeon for assessment.
