What is the difference between osteoporosis and osteoporosis?

I was reading an article on osteopenia as my mother too suffers from the same. However, I am confused between osteopenia and osteoporosis. Back pains, high chances of occurrence in old age and weaker bones are similar factors of both the diseases. I’d like to know what is the difference between osteoporosis and osteoporosis? I’ll be grateful for your help!
