Varicose Veins Laser Surgery

Dad has varicose Ulcer.. He has varicose veins but no Deep Mein thrombosis.. Doctor has suggested for varicose veins laser operation.. Further he said our legs has 2 types of veins.. one wherein 10% of the blood is taken to heart.. and the other deep vein from where 90% of the blood is taken to the heart.. Since he does not have deep vein thrombosis he can be treated through laser treatment... Just wanted to know how safe is the laser treatment for varicose veins and side effects.. further does it reoccur.
