Valvular disease

Hello I have a question If on chest auscultation, a person shows no signs of heart murmur, clicks or any other abnormal sound, what are the chances of that person having moderate/severe valvular disease? Is it still possible?

More severe the lesion, chest becomes silent in few valvular heart diseases like in case today of mitral stenosis. Even if u don't hear any murmur , u can still have a lesion. But it's a rarity

See madam it depends who is ascultating. If you don't know what are the findings in valvular hart diseases then what will you listen on ascultation. As you know the eyes can't see and your ears can't hear what your brain doesn't know. There are different types of valvular hart diseases. And they show some symptoms also. If no symptoms then why to worry. If related symptoms are there and on ascultation you feel everything is normal then go for ECG. If still not satisfied  then go for a ECHO.

Chances of severe valvular disease is very less but mild to moderate diaease may be missed even by experienced physicians and Cardiologists. Everything is possible and it is hard to comment without examining the patient and then investigating further by scans.
