Vaginal itching

2026-11-05 09:54:04
I was previously experiencing severe itching around my vaginal opening. I consulted a doctor on Practo and was prescribed Candid B cream, Fluka 150 tablet and Muca gel for 5 days. I followed the complete treatment and experienced significant relief. Even on the sixth day, I had no discomfort. However, on the seventh day, mild itching started again around the vaginal opening. The itching is not severe like before, but it is still uncomfortable. Should I restart Candid B cream or continue applying it for a few more days? Is it safe to use it again, or would you recommend a follow up examination or any tests?

Since your symptoms have improved significantly but mild itching has returned, I would recommend a follow-up examination rather than restarting Candid-B cream or taking another dose of Fluconazole on your own. Recurrent itching may be due to persistent fungal infection, local irritation or contact dermatitis. If symptoms persist, a vaginal swab or appropriate examination may be required to confirm the cause and guide treatment.
Next Steps
Please consult a gynaecologist if the itching persists or recurs, especially if associated with abnormal discharge, foul smell, burning urination, redness or pain. A proper examination will help identify the cause and prevent repeated episodes.
Health Tips
Meanwhile: - Keep the genital area clean and dry. - Avoid scented soaps, intimate washes and vaginal douching. - Wear loose-fitting cotton underwear. - Avoid scratching the affected area. - Do not use Candid-B cream for prolonged periods, as it contains a steroid.

A follow up examination is required to be sure of what kind of infection are we looking at specifically to tailor proper treatment. Get a Pap smear done also if you are sexually active. Try keep the perineal area dry and clean. Do not wash it repeatedly. Get your sugars checked

Mild itching returning about a week after finishing treatment is common with vaginal yeast infections, especially if it clears just before the course ends. It doesn't always mean the infection has failed, but it's worth getting it checked rather than guessing.
Next Steps
Please see your gynaecologist or the doctor who treated you before restarting anything on your own. They may want a longer course this time, or a simple swab to check whether it's the same infection or something else.
Health Tips
Avoid tight or synthetic underwear and scented washes in the area, since these can keep irritation going even after the infection clears.
