Yes if this is Gout if you have been diagnosed prior than you must have been advised by your doctor which I will reiterate.1) avoid High  protein diet purely pulses And cereals and red meat.2) avoid excessive mental or physical strain.3) avoid smoking and alcohol.4) high fibre diet and plenty of water if your cardiac status is ok.     Yes gout is a chronic relapsing and remittance disease brought on by your diet and lifestyle. Take some medications in acute flare-ups like colchicine and chronically allopurinol according to Rheumatology advice. Reduce weight by consultation with a dietician. For your information gout is a chronic disease which can be adequately treated but not eradicated. Take care
