liver disease and hypertension, the TSH target should be more relaxed â around 4â6 µIU/mL is acceptable; aggressive over-correction risks atrial fibrillation and bone loss in the elderly. The incremental increase from 50 to 62.5 mcg is appropriate. Note that liver disease can affect T4 metabolism, which may explain the fluctuating TSH responses.
