Sometimes rib fractures aren’t picked up on initial xrays due to associated lung shadows. Nevertheless it’s a painful injury. Use plenty of ice packs for the first couple of day then heat fomentation. Can take simple Crocin for pain relief. Avoid coughing, sneezing and overhead activities which might exacerbate pain. This will take a few weeks but should settle down on its own.
