Too much congestion

Hello, my 2 year old boy got too much congestion. It started with fever and cold 4days back been to doctor and they gave mucolitie and citrizen syrup for 3 days...fever and runny nose are under control but too much congestion which is very uncomfortable for him while eating a d sleeping. Hez getting up inbetween with cough whith rattling sound. Please help.
