Suicidal thoughts
My sister has suicidal thoughts as she feels purposeless in life due to bipolar disorder that she finds hard to manage.
Also she stopped medication after first few months and has been only taking counseliing on & off
Her doctors don't involve us in jer treatment so we do not know what gets done during counselling
Could u shaee how we can help and prevent her from thinking or taking any suicidal step
She needs medicine as well as psychotherapy. Mere counselling won't work for her. Generally bipolar disorder patients needs medicine for lifetime. As well as psychotherapy also. During treatment the patient's family members are always briefed.

Hi... Please first get her assessment done from a Psychiatrist/Clinical Psychologist. You need to know exactly what she is going through.
Counselling takes place in a confidential environment. So may be that's why the counsellor is not involving you in her treatment. But with clients informed consent, the counsellor can share a brief about her condition and treatment.
If the frequency and intensity of her suicidal urges is high, please don't hesitate to take a Psychiatric Consultation/ Medication, as it is sometimes necessary to prevent a negative consequence.

Also inform the psychologist regarding your concern about the suicidal thoughts and how she is not regular with the medicine
