Hello,
Thank you for asking.
There is no such entity as "
sugar addiction". It could be a problem of over eating or binge eating, faulty eating habits. Usually, the preference is mostly for sweets and sugary food items. If there is associated problem of obesity, it is very important to rule out insulin resistance in body, or
diabetes.
Beacuse there is a relative state of insulin resistance, satiety is not obtain. One may feel less satisfied even after having enough food. Also, there are intense cravings for such kinds of food stuffs.
The management is not like any other addiction, therefore there is not much role of Naltrexone in this condition. The treatment is primarily to manage the underlying insulin resistance state. Physical, modifications of diet, is very crucial. There is a role of medication like SSRI group, fluoxetine, in curbing the craving and in binge eating problems.
The management or treatment is much comprehensive.
