Hello,
This is classic Postpartum Melasma (Chloasma), triggered by pregnancy hormones and sustained by UV exposure.
Since you are currently breastfeeding, safety for the baby is the top priority:
DO NOT USE: Harsh bleaching agents like Hydroquinone, Retinoids, or Steroid creams, as they enter systemic circulation and are contraindicated during lactation.
Lactation-Safe Actives to Look For:
Azelaic Acid (10–15%): Highly effective for melasma and clinically safe while breastfeeding.
Niacinamide (4–5%) & Kojic/Alpha-Arbutin: Gentle tyrosinase inhibitors that reduce pigment transfer without toxicity.
Non-Negotiable Rule: Broad-spectrum Mineral/Physical Sunscreen (Zinc Oxide/Titanium Dioxide, SPF 50 PA+++) every 3 hours indoors and outdoors. Melasma will not budge without strict UV/heat protection.
Lifestyle: Avoid cooking over high heat without skin protection, and boost internal antioxidants (
Vitamin C, fresh amla, berries).
For a customized prescription with exact percentages and application sequence, a direct clinical evaluation is recommended.
