I have been having a stomach ache since yesterday. The pain is severe but happens in breaks. I thought it's an acidity problem and will be solved over the nights sleep but it's still persistent.

Hello.. Well it would have been really easy to pin point about the cause of you had mentioned where exactly the pain is and also the associated symptoms..It might be gastric, renal colic, abdominal colic
