Your description sounds more like symptoms of compulsive behavior which could be Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Usually person with OCD experiences different types of obsessional ruminations of thoughts, ideas or images and / or compulsive behavior which are repetitive, intrusive, persistent fully aware and disliked by patient including inability to control. This can cause significant personal distress, affect social, academic and occupational aspects of life. OCD is common and is treatable. Based on the nature, severity, frequency and impact, appropriate treatment is advised. Usual treatment is using cognitive behavior therapy principles, relaxation, lifestyle modifications and at times including some medicine too.
