Hi, It's important to remember that you are not alone in dealing with social anxiety disorder, and there is no need to feel embarrassed about it. It's a common and treatable condition. In addition to medication such as SSRIs, there are other options for managing social anxiety disorder. Therapy, particularly cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), can be very effective in helping you change your thoughts and behaviors related to social situations. In therapy, you can also learn coping skills and relaxation techniques to better manage your anxiety. In addition to therapy, it can be helpful to practice self-care and stress management techniques, such as exercise, mindfulness, and relaxation exercises. Building a support network of friends and family who understand and support you can also be beneficial. It's important to be patient with yourself and to seek help from a mental health professional who can work with you to find the best treatment plan for your specific needs. Remember that it's okay to ask for help and that you deserve to feel comfortable and confident in social situations.

Navigating social anxiety disorder, especially after finding that SSRIs didn't provide the expected relief, can be daunting. It's crucial to seek guidance from a mental health professional who specializes in anxiety disorders. They can reassess your symptoms and explore alternative treatments tailored to your specific needs. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), particularly techniques like exposure therapy and cognitive restructuring, has proven effective in helping individuals manage social anxiety. Discussing medication adjustments with a psychiatrist might also be beneficial, considering different options or combinations to find the right fit for you. Alongside these treatments, incorporating lifestyle changes such as regular exercise, adequate sleep, and mindfulness practices can complement your therapeutic journey. Engaging with supportive friends, family, or support groups can provide understanding and encouragement. Educating yourself about social anxiety disorder empowers you to participate actively in treatment decisions and set achievable goals with the guidance of your therapist. Remember, overcoming social anxiety disorder is a gradual process that requires patience, persistence, and the support of healthcare professionals and loved ones alike.

You don’t need to be embarrassed of this condition. Many people have this problem and it’s not just obvious. Some may have just stage fear and some may have anxiety in many social situations. The best way to overcome this is exposure therapy which is used in CBT. You can create a hierarchy of fears (for eg: meeting someone new as 20% fear, presenting in a meeting 50%) and so on and try to face those fears from the bottom of the hierarchy to the top once you feel better in facing the fear at each stage. My advice would be to do this under the guidance of a psychologist, so they can help you better and give feedback and advice as how to go about it
Next Steps
Visit a psychologist offline or online who can help you with this exposure therapy
Health Tips
You need to prepare yourself mentally for the exposure based treatment. So it’s best to do it under the guidance of a psychologist who practices such treatments especially CBT. Doing this can definitely help you overcome your social anxiety.

You're not alone, and with the right support, it is possible to manage and overcome social anxiety. It can be a challenging condition, but there are several approaches you can take to manage and overcome it: Therapy is highly effective for social anxiety. It helps you identify and challenge negative thought patterns and gradually face social situations. Practices like mindfulness meditation, deep breathing exercises, and progressive muscle relaxation can reduce anxiety symptoms. Improving your social skills can boost your confidence and reduce anxiety in social situations. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and sufficient sleep can improve your overall mental health and reduce anxiety. If SSRIs weren't effective, talk to your doctor about other medication options. Sometimes, different medications or dosages are needed. Above all be kind to yourself and understand that having social anxiety is not something to be ashamed of. Many people struggle with it, and seeking help is a courageous step.
Next Steps
Consult with a clinical psychologist to create a personalized plan that works best for you.
Health Tips
Practice breathing techniques regularly (body scan, box breathing etc.)
