Surgery will mean reattaching any loose bit of the tissue around the socket part of the shoulder joint. In addition you also have a lesion in the humerus. Even after surgery, you will have to be careful. Surgery is effective in dealing with dislocations. However you will have 4-6 months of rehabilitation along with exercises. When you return to sport, you will have to be careful initially and even later the movements which can trigger a dislocations need to be avoided. Your chance of repeat dislocations is no doubt higher due to the very nature of the tissues around the shoulder joint.
Hope this helps.
