Coronoplasty for cusp of carabelli. Pigmentation on dorsum (top) of tongue is common, though abnormal but not ventrum (under surface). Rule out any inadequate tongue cleaning, any drug interactions or drug allergy, fungal hyphae, etc. Consult the doctor instead of harbouring doubts in your mind.

Either you are a dentist or your dentist has made spot on diagnosis. Cusp of carabelli is an accessory cusp of the 1st molar, if it is inducing taumatic ulcer best is to reshape the tooth, but you need to know there are chances it might require endodontic treatment if not now perphaps latter. Pigmentation on the tongue could be just a normal variation.

Hi..don't worry about cusp of car abel li ..it can be smoothened out by coronoplasty procedure ...It should be done as soon as possible ..because constant irritation of the same area will lead to further complications ..also ulceration will subside and heal only if irritant is removed. The concern regarding the pigmentation on d tongue ..It can be due to some hormonal imbalance , any trauma to the region, infection  or medications you have been taking . Many tyms it vil be mere blemish due to melanin accumulation as can be seen on our skin .but  if the size is increasing , tenderness in the area you need to seek advise of a dentist nearby preferably an oral pathologist or oral medicine (M.D.S ) .tc

It is good to read technical terms being used by a patient..... the sharp cusp that is bothering you can be rounded off by coronoplasty and this will relieve you of the discomfort.... if it is actually the ventral surface of the tongue that is showing pigmentation and that too from the last 2 to 3 months, a clinical picture would be able to help us better to arrive at the diagnosis..... alternatively the better option would be to go for a clinical examination with the dentist..... Regards.....
