Sharp pain in left upper back

For the last 2 days i have had pain in my back. Its kind of been getting worse. Only certain positions hurt or if I stay in any one position for an extended time, after i move it hurts. When it hurts its a 7/10 sharp stabbing pain followed by a 4/10 burning pain. What could it be and should i see my family doctor or seek emergency care?
