Severe pain in left knee

My mother is having a severe pain in her left leg(knee and below area to be precise). She is unable to move her leg and when she does she is experiencing a severe pain and there is a slight swell in the knee. I will take her to a doctor today, however just wanted to check if there is anything immediate to be take care of. Thanks in advance.

Hello Practo User, Please follow a few precautions before you take her to a doctor. Keep the knee elevated on a pillow. Don't apply anything.. like ointment or massage. Try not to bend the knee beyond 90°. Regards.
