Can a rotten tooth cause oral cancer I have it for the last 3 years now suddenly there is an extra growth near the rotten teeth and it's bleeding I'm worried

Rotten or grossly decayed teeth don't cause cancer. It may causes severe dentoalveolar abscess with swelling. But the swelling you have, please monitor and attach a photo of this growth..
Sometimes this growth may be abscess swelling with pus bleeding. This is not cancer. This is severe bacterial infections.

Yes, rotten tooth is one of the causative factor for oral cancer. Whenever a tooth is decayed, it remains demineralised and becomes brittle, it can easily fracture, the fractured tooth has sharp edges which could impinge on the adjacent tongue and cheek. This long standing sharp edges hitting the cheeks and tongue, can cause cancerous lesions.

Regular dental visits are mandatory to avoid such lesions, whenever sharp tooth is hitting on soft tissues, it has to be roundened to prevent further damage to tissues, it’s always recommended to get a biopsy done in case of such overgrowth in tissues.

Hello , rotten tooth may cause severe infections , it may periapical abscess caused due to untreated cavity . Please do consult near by dentist to co relate radiographically by taking X ray .
