yes it it necessary becoz tooth gets brittle after root canal treatment due to loss of moisture in it. and research suggests sufficient chances of fracture . only in case if front teeth with sufficient tooth structure cap is not needed  after rct.   if cap is nit placed  you may fracture ur precious tooth permanently beyond repair which ultimately needs extraction .

Hi, yes it is very much essential to get a crown done after RCT. Reason is, because of decay and drilling to do RCT, the tooth would have lost its bulk. Such tooth cannot be used for chewing purposes as the biting force might fracture the Root canal treated tooth. Only a crown will give the tooth necessary and required strength. Having said this crowns are a must for load bearing teeth such as posterior teeth. Non load bearing teeth such as Anterior teeth “can” be left without crowns for a short duration. Hope it helps.
