I met with an accident in 4 years back and due to compound fracture in my left leg 15-20 cm above ankle there is plate and 4 screws, i am planning for its removal. Plate is of 32 cms long from knee to ankle. What is the precautionary measure to be taken before being operated for removal. What are the measures to be kept in mind after being operated? How many days rest will be required??

Kindly reaffirm that thd fracture has united. If all  goes well, you should be able return to usual  activities gradually after sutures  are removed.

At this point of time, there will be bone growth over the plate and the screw heads. Removal is quite tricky for this. Unless you are having issues with the plate like pain or skin damage or infection, you can leave the plate alone

All will be guided by your operating surgeon By examination and conditions of your bone plate and general health. Only by words guidance is futile.
