Ma'am Ulcerative colitis is an autoimmune condition where in your defence system that is your immune system attacks your own body cells . The root of any autoimmune condition lies in gut damage. Also you mother has diabetes and BP - both are manifestation of metabolic dysfunction. Everything is interconnected and there is only one thing that works everywhere in body and that's FOOD. About nuclear scan - parathyroid is a gland in your body and nuclear scan is used to diagnose and / or treat  certain conditions particularly cancer and many others conditions where one looks for functioning of the organ using a radioactive substance which is taken by patient either orally or by injection .

It's pretty safe don't worry. After the scan make sure she drinks enough water and pass urine regularly. This helps to clear the injected material from the body. Patients should observe careful hygiene when going to the toilet during this period.
