Red tender spots on knee

1 & a half week ago, skin of my left medial knee had tiny nodules. Then they started peeling off and there were just tender pink-red spots which healed with tiny scabs. Today, same thing happened to medial part of my right knee. Its not really painful. Just tender n itchy. Could you please suggest what the problem might be?? Thank you
