Treatment should be only started after a diagnosis rather than a random prescription

Since your doctor already examined you and prescribed this after discussion, starting it as advised is reasonable while your tests are still pending.
Next Steps
Go ahead with the tests and ultrasound already advised, and keep taking the medicine exactly as your doctor prescribed.
Health Tips
If you notice any unusual bleeding, nausea or mood changes, contact your doctor right away instead of waiting for the next visit.
