My brother have undergone surgery for distil end radius fracture with k wire,have cast for 1 month on his hand he is using his elbow moments is it good or he should not..? How much time will be required to go back to sports and daily life routine,is physiotherapy required..? He is 19

It is fine to elbow movements. Usually they remove wires and plaster 4 to 6 weeks after surgery. He might require physio At that time. He probably can go back to sports after 3 months

He can mobilise his elbow. Few concerns of mine are- 1. Why was his hand plastered once it was operated. Was k wire fixation done?
Next Steps
Routine time to get back to normal life- 3 weeks. Return to sports - 3 months. Physiotherapy is an integral part post surgery and casting.
Health Tips
Stiffness has to be overcome with gentle exercises.

Hello. There is no problem using elbow. Start with mobilisation and strengthening exercises after consulting orthopedic physiotherapist. Regaining movement and strength will only be possible through proper rehab under an orthopedic physiotherapist.
