Query regarding feeding & pacifier
Hi doctor
I'm a lactating mother of a one month old baby. I breastfeed him for 30 min and I'm giving 30 ml formula milk after that. I do burping after each feed as well. Also giving him Collicaid drops. Still he doesn't go to sleep after feeding. Even if he sleeps, he wakes up after 1 hour and starts demanding for the feed again.
Then if I breastfeed him again, for 20-30 minutes, he latches strongly. After that he goes to sleep most of the time.
I'm worried about his pattern. Should I increase the Formula quantity? Or should I use a pacifier to calm him ? Is there anything from my side that can be changed? Please suggest.
Why do you want to give formula?? Is your supply not enough? If so why do you think so? Baby demanding feeds repeatedly does not mean that your supply is low. They go through growth spurts when they need a lot of feeds for rapid growth and tend to cluster feed that js demanding feed again and again. That's completely normal behaviour. Feed him on demand as much as he wants. Stop formula and if your baby's pee count is 8-10 just on breastfeeding that means that your supply is enough. Don't introduce pacifier. It will make the latch poor.
