Possible to treat obesity via medicines?

I am asking this question under this category because someone mentioned - an endocrinologist can help me boost my metabolism and kick start my journey to reduce obesity. I don't have thyroid, PCOD/PCOD. I've gained 28 kg in 13 months (no major lifestyle changes, just reduction in exercise). I drink minimum 4L water everyday. I sweat too much. What can be the possible problem with me? Can medications help me to boost my metabolism, lower blood sugar and reduce obesity? Help!!
