Pneumococcal Vaccine
Hi, my daughter was given the Prevenar 13-valent vaccination from Pfizer at age 3.3yrs the day before yesterday. She never had a dose of pneumococcal before this and was affected by typhus 2 months ago. She's now experiencing weakness/shaky hands 2 days after the vaccine, is it normal to experience side effects this late or should the signs start on the day of vaccination. Thanks in advance!
Early side effects of any vaccine can take place upto 2 to 5 days after vaccination . But having said that , the modern day vaccines are very safe and generally besides some local pain and fever serious side effects are not seen . I am not sure at which site the vaccination has been given . Whether it is the arm in which the vaccine has been given which is showing these symptoms in which case they may be related to pain and tenderness at the site .
But the complaint that you are describing especially if the vaccine has not been given in that arm requires an evaluation by the Pediatrician to rule out any neurological condition
