If you have been diagnosed with hemorrhoids/ fistula, you have to undergo sigmoidoscopy to rule out internal hemorrhoids or presence of other lesions. In case of not finding anything via either proctoscopy or sigmoidoscopy but symptoms persists, colonoscopy will be preferred as a diagnostic option.
