I have been eating gutkha for long time. As a result I cannot open my mouth properly. Can it be opened back
111 Views
Yes it can be reopened. You are suffering from Oral Submucous Fibrosis. Treating this is a long term process. First, quit the habit of chewing gutkha. Next, start medication of SM Fibro tablet once daily for the next 1 month. Next visit the dentist for jaw exercises, which will improve the mouth opening. However, if there is fibrous band formation in the cheeks, then you need to correct it surgically.
Next Steps
Visit your nearest dentist ASAP. Only after clinically examining the problem can we decide whether to treat it by medicine or by surgically.
Health Tips
Do not delay the treatment, as it will give rise to other complications.
