Sometimes when teeth get infected the pain radiates to the ear, cheek, neck areas and patient is not able to decide which tooth is hurting exactly. So the best thing you can do for home care is do warm saline rinse( that is warm water with a pinch of salt). This can be done 3-4 times a day.Chlorhexidine mouthwash can be used at bedtime to reduce bacterial load. One thing to AVOID at home is hot fomentation.Painkiller and antibiotics can be given by the dentist, depending on severity of the pain.It would be better for you to see the dentist at the earliest. After X-ray the dentist would be able to give you treatment options.Extractions are not always the best option but sometimes the only option if tooth is badly damaged. Thanks.
