Normally this sort of pain at your age group is due to patellofemoral changes though there are many other things which can do this. This depends on your lifestyle, physical activities ,work pattern like kneeling work and sports/ gym activities. Give us some detailed history when is the pain from ,any injury, meet a local orthopaedician and get some x-rays. Avoid pain causing activities take painkillers and see a physiotherapist

Like to know if there is any instability like buckling when your climbing and any twisting injury recently ?a direct clinical examination would be better.could be anything from Anterior knee pain syndrome to some undiagnosed ligament injury.more history and direct consultation needed.
