Likely diagnosis could be Femoroacetabular impingement with possible labral tear or chronic adductor/iliopsoas tendinopathy.
Next Steps
MRI hip need to be done.
Health Tips
Do not rely on painkillers or pregabalinas delayed diagnosis can lead to permanent labral damage and early hip arthritis.

Based on your history and pain pattern, this is most consistent with a chronic adductor muscle strain or tendinopathy, sometimes associated with pubic symphysis or hip flexor involvement, triggered by the extreme butterfly stretch. Pain that increases with sitting, cross-leg position, and hip opening, but is minimal while standing or lying straight, strongly points to a musculoskeletal cause rather than a bone problem, which explains why X-rays were normal. Temporary relief with painkillers or pregabalin suggests irritation of soft tissues or nearby nerves, not active damage. Persistent pain for 1–1.5 years usually means incomplete healing with ongoing mechanical stress, especially from prolonged sitting. A focused evaluation of the adductor–groin–hip region (often with MRI pelvis/hip) is helpful to confirm the diagnosis and guide recovery, as this type of injury improves only when the exact pain generator is addressed.
