Pain after wisdom teeth extraction

2024-07-02 18:18:10
I had lower right wisdom tooth surgically extracted 1 week back. Since the surgery was complicated, it would take time to heal as per doctor. Still on pain killers every 12 hours. But when the pain starts, my right mandible starts paining along with pain in the bone near the ears and forehead and I feel a burning sensation. Also the right area becomes stiff. Is this normal? How many days will it take to heal?

Hello Surgical extraction might take a little longer to heal like 15 days Can you please share the OPG? Do mouth opening exercises to prevent stiffness

There could be various reasons for stiffness including neurectomy during surgery if required which can be verified with an OPG report image.
Next Steps
Get an OPG done from any government hospital or atleast a dental hospital and share the image.
Health Tips
When stiffness and pain cycle begins....apply ice pack or some ice externally on and around the affected region.

Kindly share the OPG or tooth x ray for further evaluation. Generally wisdom tooth extraction site needs atleast 15 days for complete healing. The pain will subside in another 2-3 days.
Next Steps
Do lukewarm saline rinsing for faster gum healing, thrice a day. Follow all the post operative instructions given by your dentist.
