Your friend first of all needs to give up habit of areca nut chewing and needs intralesional injections. Please get in touch with an Oral Medicine or Oral surgeon. Medicines alone will not help him. You may teleconsult to know the massaging technique and excercises to further help recover fast.

Better Visit a local oral medicine/oral and Maxillofacial surgeon for physical evaluation and treatment (as required). Avoid too hot or spicy food items.

Hi, First thing is stop the habit. Apply the prescribed medication for a month and see if any relief is seen. Visit your dentist on a monthly basis for a review for the next few months.
