Hello,
The dose of fluvoxamine was increased to 250 mg for a few days and then reduced back to 200 mg (100 mg twice daily). Sudden dose changes — both increasing and decreasing — can sometimes lead to temporary side effects such as headache, weakness, fatigue, or mild increase in anxiety/OCD symptoms.
When the dose is increased, the body takes time to adjust. When it is reduced again within a short period, the nervous system may again need time to stabilize. These symptoms are usually transient and settle within a few days to a couple of weeks.
However, frequent dose adjustments without medical supervision can make symptoms fluctuate and increase discomfort.
Next Steps
• Continue the currently prescribed dose unless your doctor advises otherwise.
• Avoid changing the dose on your own.
• Schedule a follow-up to discuss whether 200 mg is adequate or whether a slower titration plan is needed.
Health Tips
In OCD, higher doses are often required, but dose increases should be gradual and monitored.
• Temporary worsening of anxiety can sometimes occur after dose changes.
• If you develop severe restlessness, confusion, vomiting, tremors, or worsening symptoms, seek medical review promptly.
